Restless Legs Syndrome

Gone will be those long sleep-ins on a Sunday morning where you doze in and out of consciousness, wasting half the day before finally getting up at lunchtime. Ahhh.. such fond memories.
For many people who undergo ETS surgery, Restless Legs Syndrome is yet another hidden side-effect which they now have to contend with. Some say it is as a result of the vascular system no longer dilating and constricting as it should, however, recent studies suspect it to be linked to an imbalance of the brain chemical dopamine, produced by the hypothalamus, which sends messages around the body to control muscle movement, among other things.
Although Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) does not usually lead to other series conditions, symptoms can vary from barely bothersome to incapacitating. Many people who experience RLS find it difficult to fall or stay asleep. Severe RLS can cause marked impairment in life quality and can lead to depression in some people.
