'Side-Effects' Sounds More Acceptable
Than 'Impairments"

The new medical issues most ETS patients end up with are definitely NOT 'side-effects'. They are 'IMPAIRMENTS'.
Changing the name to side-effects helps to reduce the perceived severity of the impairments to prospective patients so they become an accepted part of the procedure. After all, many other medical procedures as well as medications carry side-effects and are something we have all learnt to accept. But don't be fooled.
The impairments caused from ETS surgery are almost always more severe than the original problem you were trying to fix, and unlike most other medical procedures, this is permanent and these impairments will be with you for the rest of your life.
